Servers Specifications

Datacenter and on-premises Fibostack deployments require a minimum of 6 servers to offer virtualization-based functionality.

MinimumRecommended
Control Domain3 nodes3 nodes
Virtualization domain2 nodes
1 hypervisor for virtual machines and 1 for container host
6 nodes
3 hypervisor for virtual machines and 3 for container host
Monitoring domain1 node1 node
Total6 node10 node

Hardware Requirements

  • All servers must have PXE boot capability and IPMI Remote Management Interface. PXE boot must be activated as a first boot option during Fibostack setup phase 1 only and can be deactivated afterward.
  • Supported CPU manufacturers are Intel, AMD (Intel is preferable).
  • RAM version is not fixed (both DDR3 and DDR4 are supported for each node type).
Control and monitoring domain serversVirtualization domain servers
In case of small cluster sizes (less than 10 hypervisors) or at least 12-core Intel or AMD CPU and 128GB RAM per node suffice. For larger clusters, please discuss this matter before Fibostack deployment is started.Although there are no strictly defined minimum system requirements for virtualization hosts, it is recommended to have 2 x 16-core Intel or AMD CPU (or higher) and 256GB RAM (recommended RAM amount heavily depends on the number of cores in total).

Server Inter-Connectivity

There are no strict requirements on networking equipment manufacturers (Juniper and Cisco are preferred).

If using a loadbalancer, an additional internal IP is required.

Software

  • One server should be equipped with bootable Linux and DHCP + TFTP service set provided by the Fibostack team, installed on it.
  • All servers should come with one of those Linux distributions (Ubuntu 20.04 LTS) installed.
